Exporting GEX Data: PNG Charts and CSV Files

TL;DR
  • Export the GEX chart as a high-quality PNG — perfect for sharing in Discord, Slack, or post-market notes.
  • Export the underlying GEX data as CSV — for Excel, Python analysis, or personal records.
  • Both exports reflect the current chart state: active ticker, DTE filter, strikes filter.
  • Export is available on Pro and Trader plans.

Two Export Options

PNG Export captures the current GEX Profile chart as a PNG image. The exported image includes the chart title, ticker, date, all key levels (Call Wall, Put Wall, Zero Gamma, Spot), and the Dealer Mode regime badge. The image is clean and branded — suitable for posting directly to Discord trading servers, X, Slack, or pasting into trade notes without any additional editing. It renders at high resolution so it stays legible when resized.

CSV Export downloads the raw GEX data for the current ticker and DTE filter as a comma-separated file. The columns included are: Strike, Call GEX, Put GEX, Net GEX, Open Interest (calls), Open Interest (puts), Volume (calls), Volume (puts). This is the underlying dataset that GEXBoard uses to render the visual chart — with it, you can build custom analyses, backtest GEX level significance, or integrate the data into your own trading tools.

How to Export

Step 1 — Configure your view. Set the ticker, DTE filter, and strikes filter to the view you want to capture or export. The export will reflect exactly what is currently displayed — if you want all-expiration GEX, make sure the DTE filter is set to All. If you want 0DTE only, set the DTE filter to 0DTE before exporting. The strikes filter determines how many strikes are included in the CSV.

Step 2 — Click the Export button. The export controls appear in the bottom-right of the chart area (the legend area is hidden on mobile — use landscape orientation on mobile for best results). Two icons are displayed: a camera icon for PNG export, and a table icon for CSV export.

Step 3 — PNG: Click the camera icon. The file downloads immediately as gexboard-{ticker}-{date}.png. No dialog, no configuration — the current chart state is captured and downloaded in one click. If your browser blocks the download, check your browser's download settings and ensure pop-ups are not blocking file saves from gexboard.com.

Step 4 — CSV: Click the table icon. The file downloads as gexboard-{ticker}-{date}.csv. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or load it into Python with pandas. The first row contains column headers. All GEX values are in standard dollar notation — no special formatting required to work with the data.

What to Use Exports For

Use Case Context Best Format
Sharing analysis Discord trading servers, Slack groups, X posts PNG — the chart image speaks for itself
Personal trade journal Record the GEX structure at the time of your trade entry PNG of the chart + note the key levels
Custom analysis Build your own models, backtest GEX levels vs price outcomes CSV — import into Excel, Python, or R
Team dashboards Share the current structure with a trading team PNG via screenshot or CSV for automated ingestion
Trade journal tip: The most valuable use of the PNG export is documenting the GEX structure at the exact moment of your trade entry. Many traders take a screenshot at entry and another at exit, creating a visual record of whether the structural context supported the trade. Over time, this builds a pattern library of what "good" and "bad" GEX setups look like for your specific trade types.

For quant-oriented traders, the CSV export is the foundation for backtesting GEX level significance. By exporting the daily GEX structure and pairing it with price data, you can test hypotheses like: "How often does price reverse within 1 point of the Call Wall in a Long Gamma regime?" The data is already normalized and structured for direct analysis — no scraping or reformatting required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PNG include annotations?

The PNG captures the chart exactly as displayed: bars, spot line, key level labels (Call Wall, Put Wall, Zero Gamma, Spot Price), and the Dealer Mode badge. Manual annotations made in an external tool (such as drawing arrows or text overlays in an image editor) would need to be added separately after export. GEXBoard does not currently support in-app annotation tools.

Is export available on Starter?

PNG and CSV export is available on Pro and Trader plans. Starter plan has view-only access without export functionality. If you regularly want to document and share GEX structures, Pro plan at $29/mo is the entry point for export access. You can upgrade from your account page at any time.
